WORK

For twenty years, I've helped teams build power for change.

Together, we can mix strategy and storytelling to spark a shift - in politics, popular opinion, or law.

I advise foundations, organisations, and public-interest startups, and I speak and write about tech, power, and democracy.

2024 -

Future of Tech Institute

Executive Director of a think tank building a fairer, more resilient tech future. I also direct a broad programme on tech and society at the Meliore Foundation.

2019-24

Foxglove

Co-founded and directed this tech-justice nonprofit. Won the UK's first legal challenges to biased government algorithms, and took on Facebook and Amazon over the treatment of their workers.

2006-18

Reprieve

Directed the counter-terrorism team, leading an international group of advocates on the abuses of the national security state.

Also Honorary Professor of Practice at UCL Faculty of Laws, Senior Fellow at the Open Markets Institute, and a member of Foxglove’s Advisory Council.

I believe in a world where economic power - in tech, but also in food, energy, and more - is shared among diverse, joyous players, not concentrated in corporate monocultures.
